JIMMY FORTUNE’S GOD & COUNTRY AVAILABLE NOW

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country Music Hall of Fame and Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Jimmy Fortune is commemorating this Memorial Day Weekend with the release of his new album, God & Country, available now across all music platforms as well as in Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® locations. The Gaither Music Group project reflects and celebrates the beauty of America, the courage of those who have made it free and the hymns that have warmed the hearts of its citizens for centuries. To stream or download God & Country, click HERE.

Billboard exclusively premiered a first listen to the album’s fifth track “Meet Me at Arlington.” Fortune co-wrote the song, inspired by the story of a Gold Star mother challenging a teacher who panned the military, with award-winning songwriter Dave Clark. “There are over 400,000 graves at Arlington and stones that represent people who have died for our freedom and who’ve given so much for us. That’s why that song was written. It’s a powerful song, a moving song and a true song about her,” shared Fortune.

“Another contribution to the positivity and power music can carry in our lives (Lula 1892/Jasmine Rochelle),” God & Country features Fortune, a 21-year member of The Statler Brothers, lending his unmistakable tenor voice to the stirring renditions of national classics and congregational favorites. The album includes a new-rendition of The Statler Brothers’ Top 10 hit “More Than a Name on a Wall,” which Fortune wrote during his tenure with the group along with their chart-topping hits “Elizabeth,” “My Only Love” and “Too Much On My Heart.” The Statler Brothers were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2007 and Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008, while Fortune was also inducted as a solo artist to the Virginia Musical Hall of Fame last year.

God & Country was produced by Ben Isaacs of the multi-award winning family group The Isaacs. The 14 tracks were recorded, mixed and engineered at Ben’s Den by Isaacs and Mark Capps and mastered at Georgetown Masters by Andrew Mendelson. God & Country will be advertised as part of a special television offer on DISH TV, DirecTV, RFD-TV, Gaither Television Network, TBN, FamilyNet, CTN, GMC, GMTN, Guardian, Liberty, TCT and TLN. It will air in Canada on Vision TV, CTS, The Miracle Channel and Hope TV. Before Fortune heads out on his God & Country Tour next week, fans can catch the legendary entertainer performing songs off his new album this weekend at the Gaither Family Fest in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Gaither Music Group released Fortune’s critically-acclaimed compilation album Jimmy Fortune Sings the Classics in 2017. The label also released Fortune’s CD and DVD project Hits & Hymns which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, No. 1 on the Southern Gospel chart and No. 6 on the Billboard Contemporary Christian chart. Fortune has sold over 100,000 CD and DVD units with Gaither Music Group.

    Hi Nina,
My wife and I have just found this page. I am enjoying catching up with Jimmie. Kim and I had the privilege of meeting Phil Harold and Don individually over the years. But I’ve never had the chance to meet Jimmie. We will keep up with his calendar and try to find a concert that we can attend. We are near Winston-Salem North Carolina. Would love to have the opportunity to just shake his hand and tell him how much we appreciate his effort and his music. Be safe and take care. Hope to meet you too. Blessings,
    Jeff and Kim Barnes

  4. Betty Lueders says:

  8. Lynne Lewellen Alber says:

Nina, I saw you and Jimmy at Shipshewana last Friday night. I got some information from you so I could do your tree like I did for your husband last Oct. You are a cousin to Bill Gaither on your mother’s side. I figure how to let you see and print up your tree, since you have no more concerts in Shipshewana this year. Send me an e-mail with you e-mail address so I can send you an invite to your tree on Ancestry. You will be able to access it for free as long as I am alive, and print pages and pictures. I have found family picture and information, as I did for Jimmy. Get a book and plastic sheets and paper and start printing. Say hello to your cousin Bill Gaither and show him how you are related. Have pictures of the 3rd great grandparents Gaither.

  9. Martha Blair says:

I have been a fan of Jimmy since he sang with the Statler Brothers. I’m looking forward to being at his concert at Woodstock, VA on December 2nd. I assume he will be selling his CD God and Country. He rejuvenates his audience with his songs, sharing his life story. I wish you well and safe travels. God Bless you.

  10. Alicia Williams says:

    Hi Nina,

I posted a comment earlier today, but don’t see it appearing in any of the news comments.

Hope you and Jimmy are both well. I am very happy that we will be attending the show at Dominion Park in Stuart on Sat. Aug. 31st – 4 more days!!! On the phone today I bought tickets to the October 17 show at the Walker Center in Wilksboro!!! We will be back in NC visiting daughters again at that time.

Looking forward very much to hearing his awesome voice and seeing both of you. Will be giving you the little items I made for you.

    See you soon

    Alicia XO

    • Nina Fortune says:

The label itself doesn’t release tracks. If there is demand for it a company like Daywind may have them later. The sheet music is up and available for download on the shop page here.
