Please keep a friend of ours in your prayers.  She just retired at the end of this school year and has been diagnosed with cancer in both lungs (non smoker).  Things look very serious for her right now and she has been in ICU, having only just been diagnosed last week.

Also, my niece (age 36) will be seeing a surgeon on the 10th becuase of a lump in her breast.  Her mother (my sister) and her grandmother (my mother) both had breast cancer.  She and her husband care for his mother in their home.  I am very concerned about her.  She has already had mamograms, ultrasound, and MRI prior to seeing the surgeon.  There has been an area of concern here for several years prior to this.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers for these two people.

Patsy, this news is sad but I will surely be praying! How awful to retire and have such a thing occur.  And to be in ICU already....  And then your niece--the familial connection is so strong in this dread disease. I surely wish I had magical powers...

They could not do further testing (PET scan) on her today.  She cannot lay flat becuase she cannot breathe.  So distressing to think of this.   I do not believe this lady is not even out of her 50's.  Both she and her husband (he from Ga. Power) took early retirments and had bought a camper to travel.  So sad.

My little niece...genectics do not seem to be in her favor.

Patsy,

We will keep both of them in our prayers.  What terrible news they are both dealing with.

Patsy,

Needless to say, this hits very close to home for me as Rose's first diagnosis was lung cancer.  Pet Scans are used to show "hot spots" or where the cancer is showing.  I will be praying for your friend for as long as she needs the prayers.  I know what the family is going through and the feeling of being helpless.  Also I'll be praying for your niece that she gets through this.  Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

I just talked to my nephew-in-law by way of Fb.  He is just very, very worried and I assured him that I, and a lot of my friends, are praying for Leigh.  He seemed very appreciative of this.  Thanks to all of you.  They really need prayer.

Haven't heard about my friend today.  My heart is very sad and heavy over her and my niece, as well.

Eddie, Our sweet Rose, was the first person that I thought about, when I got this news.  I knew it would hit very close to home and heart for you.  We all miss Rose, but I know that she is in much, much better place.

Like Patsy, my first thought went to Rose and Eddie.  Lung cancer will always bring Rose to mind for me.  I miss her so much.

Today, Rose's sister, Eleanor, with her husband and our niece, Jennifer (daughter of Rose's deceased sister, Helen) all came to visit.  I showed her the candle gift that Heather made and sent to me that contained pictures of Rose and Jimmy that Heather got with the aid of some of you all.  Then I showed her some pictures of Rose with Jimmy and Nina from past festivals and Pennsylvania concerts.  I turned on the Statlers' last concert video so she could hear Jimmy singing.

Patsy, I told her about your friend and also your niece.  Then we all went to the cemetery to visit Rose as this was the first time since the funeral they were able to travel down from Pennsylvania.  We put flowers (roses) on Rosemary's grave and then we took time to pray for your friend and niece. I think about them everyday and pray to God for their recovery and cure.

I know Rose is at peace in God's arms.  Please let me know how things are going with them both.

Thank you, for your kindness, Eddie.  I'm so glad that Rose's relatives were able to come down and spend time with you and that you were all able to visit her grave.  I think she knows that all of you were there.  Thank you for praying for my niece and my friend.  My niece has her biopsy tomorrow and I will let all of you know as soon as we find out what it shows.  You are such a wonderful friend to all of us, Eddie, but more like family.  That's what we all are....family.

Thus far the news about my niece has been positive.  The Dr. is thinking this is a cyst, but is contacting the Radiologist.   Will find out the latest about our friend tomorrow.  Thanks for your prayers everyone.
