A lot of you knew the Statler Brothers bus driver, Dale Harman. He passed on 5-28-10. I don't know a lot of details, the obituary is not up yet online. His health had been failing in the past several years. We all LOVED Dale, he was a different kind of person. He will be missed greatly.

Nina,

Thank you for letting us know.  My prayers go out to Dale's family at this time.  The loss of a good friend is just like losing a family member - friendship is earned and valued.

I am so sorry to hear this.  I'm sure Dale was a part of the family for all who knew him and spent so much time with him.  Losing a long-time friend and traveling companion will be difficult for all.  Prayers for family and friends.

Nina,
Thanks for letting us know. This is such sad news. We've wondered how Dale was so many times, especially after you told me last year his health hadn't been good. I got to know him from going to so many Statler shows and going to Nashville for the tv tapings. We spent a lot of time talking and he shared so many great personal stories with me. A lot of them were about when he went to the races. He was so funny and so nice. One time when we all were in Pigeon Forge, I had car trouble and he went out and looked at my car, tried to help me. When he couldn't fix it, he told me where to take it to get it fixed and made sure they knew we were friends so they would be fair on the repair.....really was a great guy. I'm so sorry to learn he has passed.

I just found Dale's Obit on the Staunton Newsleader page.   Just go to the newspaper and it's in today's obits.

Saw it in todays Newsleader also.  Funeral is today and some from the Statler's band were pall bearers.  May he rest in peace.  He must have been an awfully good driver for the Statlers to have used him for all of those years.

Yes, of the pall bearers - everyone knows Billy James who played originally with the Statlers and is now Jimmy's business manager.  Also I remember Bull Durham, who I believed played piano/organ with the Statlers at the same time that Billy played with them.

To all -

Was Dale the gentleman who worked in the Statler office over the past few years?  I called there one time and had a wonderful chat with a gentleman who said he drove a bus for the Statlers for years.  Just wondering if he was Dale.

Doug,  I'm not sure...maybe Nina can enlighten us on that.  The times I've been there or called, it was always the women who were working there.
