I live in the Shen Valley and see Jimmy Fortune nearly each day on TV ads. I have noticed that there is a Trident on Jimmys' guitar strap on his left shoulder. This looks to be a US Navy SEAL Trident. I have to ask the reason the Trident is displayed. Is Jimmy Fortune a Navy SEAL or is there another reason the Trident is displayed.
Thank you for taking the time to read this question.

I don't believe he served in the military, but perhaps it is related to the guitar brand. Anyone know?

Someone did give him that because of the song More Than A Name On A Wall. He didn't want to keep it in a drawer somewhere so he put it on his strap to show respect for the person that gave it to him and that he supports the troops. Nina

Being a Veteran, I always appreciate the respect that Jimmy shows to ALL veterans. When Jimmy stops his show to ask all vets to stand to be recognized, I feel proud for having served my country and I'm so proud of Jimmy for "More than a Name on the Wall".

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question regarding the US Navy SEAL Trident that I have seen on Jimmys' guitar strap. For me, the matter is closed. This is a great site for a great performer!
I'll just read for a while now.
Have a great day for the rest of today, and all the days that are before you!

Cindy,
Thank you, and thank you all!
If it is OK, I'll just hang for a time and take in all I can from this great site.
Began playing acoustic guitar in 1965. Still play and love the acoustic sound. The Statler Brothers and Jimmy Fortune have always been a favorite.
Back in my hole to read and learn!
Thanks again.
Ancient Tiger 6
ps: Nina, best to you and Jimmy. As a vet with 23ys Comissioned service, I thank you and Jimmy for the support.

As the sister of a Navy man who was killed in Korea and the wife of an Army officer who spent time in Viet Nam, please know we are honored to have you with us. Do come out of your hole every now and then and give us a shout.
Since you live in the Valley, is there a chance we will get to meet you at the Festival?

Williamsonmunier,
I am sorry for the loss of your brother. I thank him for his service and his sacrifice! Prayers are never too late, and they are out.
As a dependant wife, you also served, more than most can know!
Being a "Newbie" here, please tell me about the Festival. Where and when. If I can be there, I will.
Thank you.
