Jimmy Fortune Sings The Classics

Nashville, Tenn. (March 16, 2017) – Jimmy Fortune, a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee and member of the legendary Statler Brothers, has just completed an all-new recording, Jimmy Fortune: Sings the Classics. The album, which will be available April 21, features collaborations with longtime friends Ricky Skaggs, The Isaacs and the Voices of Lee. The Gaither Music Group project will be released via Gaither Records and available at music retailers everywhere, along with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store® locations nationwide. Fans can also pre-order the album HERE.
“This project is very special and dear to my heart,” said Jimmy Fortune. “A lot of hard work and thought went into picking each song, songs that shaped my life. I love them all and I think anyone who hears it will feel the same way.”

Known for his unmistakable tenor voice that has captivated audiences since his 21-year tenure with The Statler Brothers, Fortune puts a new twist on some of his old favorites on the upcoming album. Jimmy Fortune: Sings the Classics features 14 new studio recordings of classic songs that have all left their mark in music history.

Standout tracks on the project include the classic Hank Cochran-penned “Make the World Go Away,” which has been recorded over the years by some of music’s greatest voices including Ray Price, Eddy Arnold and Donny & Marie Osmond. Another highlight is the country classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” which is one of the most well-known songs in the history of the genre. Paying homage to his Statler Brothers’ heritage, the project also features a new recording of the signature Grammy® Award-winning hit “Flowers on the Wall,” a tune which Fortune knows well, as it was the first major hit for the iconic quartet.

The past year has been a career-defining time for Fortune, who was honored by the Academy of Country Music at the 10th Annual ACM Honors with the “Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award” for his incredible contribution to country music, along with each member of The Statler Brothers. The Gospel Music Hall of Fame hit maker also received his first GMA Dove Award for “Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year” for the track “Life’s Railway to Heaven” featuring The Oak Ridge Boys and found on his previous critically-acclaimed album, Hits & Hymns (Gaither Music Group). The ACM Award-winner will be hitting the road in 2017 in support of the upcoming album, with a 40-plus city tour where fans can hear him sing No. 1 Statler Brothers’ hits such as “Elizabeth,” gospel favorites, and classics featured on his upcoming album. Fans who want an up-close and personal experience can set sail with Fortune on the 14th Annual Jimmy Fortune Alaskan Cruise, set for departure this July.
Jimmy Fortune: Sings the Classics will be featured as part of a special television offer on DISH TV, DIRECTV, Gaither Television Network, TBN, RFD, FamilyNet, CTN, GMC, GMTN, Guardian, Liberty, TCT and TLN. It will air in Canada on Vision TV, CTS, The Miracle Channel, CTS and Hope TV.

The recording will be exclusively distributed by Capitol Christian Distribution and Universal Music. It will be available throughout general market stores and the Christian marketplace and through online retailers including iTunes, Amazon, Walmart.com, crackerbarrel.com, www.gaither.com and www.jimmyfortune.com

Dear Nina, met you and Jimmy in Douglas, Ga. In June 2018 or first part of July ? Then we planned a five day vacation around Jimmy’s appearance at Hiwassee Georgia, Mountain Fair,July 28, 2018! Just got home! 7 hour trip, we saw the 3:00 and 7:00 appearance, bought hits and hymns because it had, “I Believe” on it! You and I talked about the blueberries someone brought you to the show in Douglas! We love Jimmy’s talent, singing, personality, the fact he shares his faith openly about God! So many entertainers do not do that, but in these days we are living in, we got to spread Christ now more than ever! I had, I Believe sung at my mom’s funeral, almost 4 years ago, at that time I didn’t really know who wrote or sung it, I had heard it at church and was so touched by it! If you were in that show last Saturday, when he sung that song and got a standing ovation, If anyone didn’t feel the spirit of God’s presence, they had to have been not paying attention! Jimmy and players were awesome!!!!!!!!!!I’d go 7 hours again to hear that show all over! Tired, but so worth it! You are such a down to earth sweet person, like I’ve known you for years, I took a photo of Jimmy and elderly couple, the man has stage 4 cancer, the photo didn’t take, I took you their email address, you stuck it in zipper bag! If y’all ever come back to Douglas, and need a place to chill or rest up We have 2 extra guests room and bath, no kids( couldn’t have any) just fur babies, but you’d be so welcome! I requested to be your friend on Facebook Brenda Solomon Anderson, prayers for you and Jimmy! Keep the Good work going!!! Love in Christ, Bren

    Dear Mr Fortune,
A heart felt thank you for the song “I Believe”.
My mother passed away July 17,2016. The words to this song really resonated
With me, in fact makes me cry every time I listen to it.
This song comforts me with the truth of where she is!
Thank you again so much Jimmy. I was raised in Albemarle County, Va.
Born in 1950 and now realize how fast time is passing.
    Sincerely, Daryl Corle. drcorle@yahoo.com

Outstanding new CD. I preordered mine but had to leave a reply. We are finally going to get to see Jimmy in concert in Prairie du Sac, WI on September 23rd. When I saw that Jimmy was playing a concert in Wisconsin I told my husband, Nina we are going. We have to be up and on the road by 5 am to see hi at the 1pm show but I wouldn’t miss this chance to see him in our home state. Will you be there with him, Nina? I sure hope that we will get to meet you both, we love you! We have loved Jimmy ever since he sang his first note as a Statler Brother. Hope to see you in Wisconsin.
