Been awfully quiet here lately.  Check in and tell us what you are up to.

I'm still here.  I've been checking in every so often.  I have been keeping busy with helping Mom after her knee replacement on June 4th, and all of her doctor appointments. Plus working on my fall schedule for my craft fairs that I will be participating in.

Just so you know, Hugh and I are busy volunteering--both of us in the political arena and through church, along with him at the local newspaper advisory board and the Chamber of Commerce, me at an all- breed animal rescue, Logan's Run Rescue.  Look us up on the web at http://www.logansrunrescue.com/ and also like us on Facebook.   I work at the thrift shop all day Thursday and am the liaison person for our affiliation with a foundation called Pets for Patriots, through which we adopt out animals to veterans or currently serving military at no cost, along with P4P providing veterinary clinic discounts and a certificate for food/toys/supplies once a year.

Currently, we are also fostering a little boy dog now named Chipper who was found crawling alongside a local highway on July 3.  He spent a week at the vet and then came to live with us.  He was almost dead from being out in the heat and from malnutrition; was covered in dirt, fleas, and ticks; was unable to perform his bodily functions without help; and was generally in terrible condition. He has some paralysis in the hindquarters, but he is now clean, as healthy as can be, well-fed, and a little lover.  Between some swimming sessions in our utility sink, daily massages and exercises we do with him, medication, and playing with our nine month old and 10 year old spaniels, he is making decent progress.  He may eventually end up on a cart/wheelchair, but we won't know until we see how big a comeback he can make.  He has spent the last two Thursdays with me at the store in a large crate, meeting and greeting customers and potential new family.  I sure am hoping someone will take this little boy home and give him the love and undivided attention he needs.

So that's our story right now...

I'm working. It has been awfully quiet here lately. We need to find a fun way to liven it up.

I am still volunteering at our local  seniors center, sit on the Board of Finance.  And still doing my volunteering at the hospital.  Then I have my dog at home that needs his daily walks.  So not much time to sit around and get board.  Jan

I got an ol' slouch hat
Got my roll on my shoulder
I'm as free as a breeze
An' I'll do as I please
Just a bummin' around

Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,

And pass it on to other folk!

We have been pretty busy this summer.  Our youngest son got married a few weeks ago.  It was a lovely church wedding with a nice reception.  We hosted the rehearsal dinner the night before.  Since then it has been mostly recuperating!  Next weekend we have our annual family reunion.  I think we have that pretty well figured out now, so it doesn't take much to pull it together.  My dear brother-in-law always seems to do all the hard work.  My sister and I just point and Eddie does it all.

I do get on here to read things but haven't had much to say.

I agree, Sandy, we need to do something liven things up.

Very good, Riley :)

That's an old song from way back in my early years. It might even be on you tube. :)

We've stayed busy with grandchildren this summer.  Went to the beach last week with our daughter and grandsons and are constantly from one town to another visiting them and enjoying the new grandbaby.  Plus, Ludiwg is still working when we are not on the road.

I think you all know where and to what extent I've been busy, however there are some good things too getting me re motivated and on my feet,as you might say.
First the bad storm last month did a lot of damage to the homes here in Staunton,Virginia and surrounding areas, therefore as I'm sure you know what I'm doing,Roof Repairs soon, got my daughter coming for a quick visit,as in overnight,as a parent,I'll settle for anything as long as we have the time.
I put in a new and beautiful lawn, nice and plush, yes the kind you want to take your shoes off and  walk across,Well that was short lived,my lawn people sprayed it too soon with something that wasn't good for it,all I can say is KEEP THEM SHOES ON,yes  back to dirt until fall when they will come and make it right, there good people, just the new gent was lacking the knowledge to ask and maybe wait,by this time next year,it will be bare feet.
To try to get out of my post HOBO depression,I have been surprising my neighbours with a nice lawn when they come home from work,my lawnmower has had a workout, lucky for me they appreciate it  ;D ;)  :D  .
Have been reading the board religiously so am aware of most of what has been happening, seems facebook has taken the wind out of most webs, please use this board to let each other know how they are doing, some don't do facebook, without a JIMMY FESTIVAL  :( , we have lost another big tool to see each other and share  things in our lives,GOD BLESS you all and I wish you all a continued good summer, then Fall, Jimmy does CHRISTmas in Weyers Cave again this year, If I read it right DECEMBER 17,A great concert for a great cause, maybe we can have a good showing of FORTUNE TELLERS  this year,Won't be the same without Greg Balsleys or ( Hobo) there as last year,so good to see and chat with good friends/family there, that was the last day I saw my brother and Greg ,at that concert last December 20TH.,as he went into the hopital a few days later, the rest is history.  and the recent tragedy to Phils family with Greg's passing.
I hope you consider trying to make this special night,If you haven't heard Jimmy do ''O HOLY NIGHT'',
you are missing a memorable pre CHRISTmas treat,Just Jimmy and that awsome voice GOD BLESSED him with, the echo of his angelic voice reminding us of that HOLY night,
What a way to get into the season,Enough of me going on ,sorry, just so much in my head and I have a keyboard, dangerous combination,LOvE you all ,GOD BLESS the rest of your summer/year.   ;D 8)

Bob and a keyboard!  Wow!  BTW, Bob, is your daughter still piping?  Haven't heard much on that in a while.  Also, watch yourself on the lawn and roof.  Don't take any unnecessary chances.  We need you!

I surely wish we could do the concert in December, but with two dogs of our own, a foster dog, and mountains in between where there can be snow and sleet just about any time, I think we will have to let it go.  Sob...

Very  dangerous mix,PTSD keeps the mind hopping, then add a keyboard? crazy, I can't keep up with it at times, getting tired thinking about that one.
Daughter,PIPING,Yes she and her pipes are both doing REMARKABLY well, she has gone from grade 5 being a beginner to working on grade 2 ,If I am correct, was a grade 4 or 3 last time any of you heard her I think,  ;D  :) Grade 1 is professional so she is like a semi pro on the pipes, very good at it,lots of hard work getting there.
Roof>>>ME? Hmmmmmmmmmm not me,hiring that out ,my body can't even dream of the idea of me on the roof,I have true GREEN as lawn people, the chemicals and I can't be together while they are going down, seems these are the only good things I can find of getting older, and maybe more people call you sir or MR. The weather has been a factor for the CHRISTmas concert ,hopefully it will work out for us as it did last year, still time for consideration,Thank you for asking about my bag piper, she is doing well, firsts apartment ,all alone with bills, seems we've been there and done that, pray for her,she is working hard .struggling to make it work on her own,no help, she is determined to be totally serf sufficient ,I think.
P.S. anyone pick up on my REMARKABE? all Capitol letters? that is in Honor of BOBBY MCKEE,if I heard right I think he is helping write two of Jimmys new songs?hope I have it right. BOBBY>>YOUR A GOOD MAN.
