My mom's surgery on May 2
« on: April 30, 2012, 01:38:46 PM »
I posted this on Facebook last night, so a lot of you probably saw it there.  I wasn't going to mention this until the night before, but might as well go ahead. My mom is having her gall bladder removed on Wednesday of this week, May 2, in what will in all probability be a very simple surgery, possibly done as an outpatient procedure. Still, that's my momma going under the knife, so of course I am on edge! Also, she will be ten days shy of her 85th birthday on the day of the surgery, so even though she's healthy and looks and acts at least 15 years younger, I still worry about the safety of any kind of surgery on someone her age! All prayers are VERY much needed and appreciated!!!! Thanks!!!

Paula,

Prayers going up from here.  I had the procedure done - went home the same day.  Just gave me meds to deal with the discomfort - which wasn't much.  But still will keep her in our prayers.

Prayers for your mom, Paula.  Let us know how she is doing.

As I noted on FB, praying for all the best in surgeon's skill and Mom's results.

Thanks, everybody!  It's now "the night before" and I'm a nervous wreck while she's cool as a cucumber!

Thanks, everybody.

I am SO thankful to be able to report that everything went very well!  She was released from the hospital this afternoon, so we are home tonight!  She's slowly getting her strength back, ate some potato soup and some pudding earlier, has gotten up and walked around inside the house a few times, and in general is doing VERY well!!!  Thanks so much for all the prayers and concern!!!

That's exactly what I did for the few days following the surgery - made sure she got up and walked as she was supposed to, but didn't do TOO much!!!

I left yesterday evening and came part of the way back, and am home this evening.  I saw a major increase in her energy before I left town yesterday, so I was okay with leaving her.  She's not supposed to be driving for another couple of days, so here's hoping she follows doctor's orders!!!

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and concern!
