Urgent prayers for our friend
mingy:
Please keep a dear friend of ours, Kathy, in your prayers. Clyde and I met them over 25 years at church. I remember them struggling to conceive a second child. They attended a class that we were teaching on Natural Family Planning in an effort to use the info to conceive. When their son, Shawn, was born on our anniversary just 4 months before our youngest Steven was born, we were asked to be his godparents. It has been our blessing to serve in that capacity. When Shawn was in kindergarten, they discovered a tumor in Kathy's brain. She has since had multiple brain surgeries, the last 8 years ago. The result was the total removal of the right side of her brain. Through one of God's miracles, she was still able to function, drive a car, take part in a religion course with me, and minister to the sick and infirm of our parish. Her faith has grown and grown. This week the tumor returned. It is large and they were not able to remove all of it. Eight years ago we were told that a return of the tumor would be the end. Much has happened medically over that time but the outlook is still not good. We arrived home last night and saw Armand, Kathy's husband, this morning. He struggled to tell us through many tears on his part and lots of hugs on mine.
I want to assure you all that Kathy is at peace with this. Her faith is very strong. She knows where she is going. Her concern has been with those that she ministers to every week at the local nursing homes. I am asking for prayers for her family and all of us who love her, that we can achieve that same peace. She has had surgery that took about 90% of the tumor. She cannot have any more radiation from what they have been told. She did not tolerate chemo well the last time. There are new drugs that may work for her.
Thank you all so very much. I know what your prayers can do. I need them as much as anyone. I am hoping to find the strength and faith that I need to help Armand and the kids through this.
Eddie:
Pam,
Needless to say, my heart go out to Kathy and Armand and the family. Please let Armand know that I'll be at his side to help him through this no matter what God decides for Kathy. They are so lucky to have you and Clyde with them. I'll never forget the "Angels of Healing" (Cancer Healing Angel) that you sent to Rose. She kept it by her bedside until God took her on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. I still have the Cancer Angel and I treasure the friendship and love that you and Clyde sent with it. My prayers continue for Kathy's healing and for the comfort of Armand and their family.
Eddie
