parents on the road again.
« on: December 30, 2010, 10:29:39 AM »
Well everyone, its that time of the year again.  I can't believe it has been a year already.  But my parents left this morning for Arizona with their 5th wheel.  Please say a prayer for them to arrive safely in Casa Grande, AZ.  Dad says he is going to take it slow this year (I will believe it when I see it).

Thanks!!!!

Thanks Sarah.   I will tell them that.  They are safely in their hotel room tonight.

We will pray for a safe, uneventful trip for them.  I know from experience that every trip has at "theme".  Sometimes that theme is a good one.  We will pray for that for them.

Thanks Pam and Riley.  I really appreciate everyones prayers.   Today they were heading down into Arkansas.  So, I have to worry about the tornados that Arkansas is having.

Thanks Jan.  I appreciate it.  Just wanted to let everyone know that they are doing rather well.  I am proud to say that dad has kept to his word about taking it slower than normal.  Today they are in Texas.  The trip has been cooler than normal.  They have had to stay in motels/hotels every night so far.  Maybe tonight they can stay in the trailer.  I hope so, it is much cheaper to stay in campgrounds than hotels.  And with the gas prices, it has been costly for them this year.

What kind of a trailer do they have?  We have a furnace in our pop-up but it gets pretty cold some nights in FL.  Thank God for the electric blanket.

Pam,

They now have a 34 foot 5th wheel.  Its a very beautiful trailer.  They were going to stay in the trailer tonight, but couldn't find a campground.

I know what you mean about the pop-up being cold even with a furnace.  We used to have a pop-up many years ago.

We had an early 70's Starcraft pop-up right after Hugh and I got married in 1983.  The first trip we took was in a downpour along the north shore of Lake Superior.  Oh, my...

I do love our fiver!

Prayers for your parents in their travels.  Funny how you worry about your kids and then your parents come along  ;).

Personally I prefer motels, no cleaning up after myself, no bed to make & most now include breakfast.

Thanks Gail.  Yes, it is funny how parents worry about their kids and then we kids worry about our parents.

I also prefer motels/hotels but they are way more expensive than campgrounds.

Mom and Dad should be at their destination tomorrow.  They are about 20 miles east of the Arizona boarder.
