Prayers please for Patsy in GA
« on: October 04, 2007, 08:22:18 PM »
I just want to let those of you who read and post on a regular basis know that I am not loosing my mind.

Many of you already knew that for the last two months I have been experiencing a great deal of pain in my lower back. After trying to deal with this pain on my own and having lost some of my mobility, I have been under the care of a physical therapist. After noticing that many of the exercises I was given were neither familiar to me nor helping to ease the pain I decided to take matters into my own hands, so to speak.

Upon checking further into things, I found out that this particular person was not as highly trained or experienced as I first thought. Plus I was only being allowed thirty minutes per session.

After contacting a friend, who was kind enough to assist me, I was able to get an appointment with a different therapist at a different clinic this coming Monday. This was an all afternoon ordeal.

Since I am faced with another painful weekend, I wanted to ask all of you who read this for your prayers. If anyone knows of a simple "home remedy" to ease the discomfort please let me know. In the meantime Ludwig and I both appreciate your thoughts and prayers. It has not been a fun time for either of us and we are ready to move on with our lives.

Thanks again

Patsy and Ludwig

Patsy, I don't have a remedy, but I do have exercise sheets my therapist gave me when I had back trouble a number of years ago.  Some of them look like knee exercises, but many of them are the same!  If I can find them after this move, I will scan and send them to you.

Do know, my dear, that Hugh and I are concerned and praying.

Have you checked online for some simple exercises?  My dad did some exercises for his back for years.  Every morning before he got out of bed he would lie flat on his back and bring his knees up to his chest, count to 10, relax, and then repeat.  He would do this several times.  I know that a similar routine had been suggested to me by my doctor only it was to draw one knee at a time up to my chest.  They do help to relieve some of the muscle tension but I am not sure how much they help with actual pain.

I have been using Icy Hot on my sore places.  My doctor said she thought Aspercreme would work better and I did find it very helpful as a temporary relief.  I just liked the fact that the Icy Hot came with an applicator so I didn't get it on my hands!

Not sure if any of these will ease your pain.   I hope a new therapist will turn things around for you.

Prayers going up!  If there isn't anything broken then it's something  a good Chiropractor could fix in a heartbeat!

A Chiropractor helped with my backpain.  I swear by them.  The first couple of weeks, I was wondering why I was putting myself through all of this, then the relief started.

:)  Patsy,   I too have been putting up with lower back pain for a week.  The Chiropractor would have helped, but I didn't give him a try this time.  Rest ,rest and more rest  is good for it.  Put a heating pad on for 15 min at a time several times a day.  Lay as flat as you can.  Put support on the lumbar area fof the back when sitting.   In other words  :D do as little as possible till this pain works it s way out.   I was stooping and doing a lot of bending on Wed and then Thurs it acted up again.  Bruce is very ynderstanding and helps me when my back acts up. ;D    Hope and Pray u will feel better real soon.    Remember    rest   rest, rest  .

Have you ever tried ice?  It's good for treating the inflamation in your back!

Jan and Nancy,
Thanks for the advice, I was not aware that the ice would bring relief to muscles. I will give it a try and let you know how it works.

I sure hope it works.   When my hand was a bit sore Kevin made sure I used ice and his dad was a doctor.  It worked for me real good.
