I was chatting with my son,who has lived in the DC area for a long time, and he said that the Smithsonian Metro station would be the closest to the wall. You go past the Washington moneument and the reflecting pool and you are there.:)
Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And pass it on to other folk!

I am glad to hear that we made the right choice in the stop we chose last year.  The time before that when we were in DC we took a different stop, and Clyde fell flat on his face walking down some sidewalk to the monuments.  I decided this looked like an easier path to take.

I checked out the USVETS website and was able to see Jimmy sing!  I watched those on the stage behind him wipe tears.  It was beautiful and emotional!

All I could get was the introduction. I could hear the guys tuning up in the background. The rest of the ceremonies are supposed to be shown within 24  :)hours.

While Jimmy was singing, what really got to me was watching so many of the vets singing quietly along with him!  That song is their anthem.  There were many, many moist eyes during that song.  The experience was really awe inspiring.

What is the website address?

Try this Nancy  www.usvets.tv   I finally saw the whole thing.
Jimmy did some songs before the festivities started. He sang "More than a name on a wall" later into the program. :)

The other gift ,was the site Nina set up to watch and hear Jimmy!!!!!! at the VietNam Memorial.

I am so glad I was able to be there yesterday to hear Jimmy at the Wall.  It was a really nice ceremony.  I am so sun-burnt though.  The average temperature in D.C. was about 98 yesterday.

Mom, Dena, John, Jan and I were able to visit the American History museum.  Which was really cool.  I saw Clinton's saxophone, a ticket stub from the play Lincoln went to see the night he was assassinated at Ford's Theatre, and many other cool things.  We also visited some of the memorials other than the Vietnam Wall.  The World War II Memorial is very nice.  I really enjoyed the Korean Memorial also.

The five us us were so warn out by the time we got to Staunton last night. I really am surprised we didn't fall asleep in the Metro riding back to Dena's van.  We saw the funniest sign on the Metro.  It said, "Don't forget your teeth".

One neat thing that happened was that Marine One flew over the area where the Vietnam wall is.  It was so loud when it flew over.  I had no idea what it was until I saw this helicopter flying by.  I looked at it a little closer and recognized the paint job and was able to make out the writing on it and said, "COOL!  IT'S MARINE ONE".  I've never had that happen when I've been in D.C.  It takes very little to make me happy.

When I'm more awake I will post pictures from the day.  I'm so tired that it's not even funny!

Are you going to the festival????  If you get this excited just hearing Jimmy's voice, I think we'll have to tie you to your seat in Staunton when you're just ten feet away from the Man himself !!!!   ;D ;D ;D ;D

I went to the website and watched.  What a wonderful event.  Thanks to Jimmy for taking time out to honor the vets.

For those interested in watching, he appears at the beginning and again at about the 59 minute mark.

Thank you so much for sharing the info on the web site. For those that couldn't be there, this was the next best way to see it.  I did get to watch it earlier this evening.  My family and I were able to visit The Wall in March of 2001. Our children had lots of questions regarding it.  Makes you stop/think and be so thankful to those who gave their lives for us and continue to fight for freedom today.
