Knowing Daniel, he may try to get someone to put a horn on it for him! Not to be aggressive, but to be funny!

I know if I ever need to use one of the scooters the stores have, I won't hesitate to use it. We tried to get Dad to use them when he was so bad, but he didn't want to. He still has trouble with his legs hurting when he walks too much, but he won't use a scooter. Daniel does love using them though! :)

Sarah, HEY! Great to hear from you! Glad you were able to check in and hear how well Daniel is doing. I gave him several cards the other day from you and as always, he just loved getting and looking at them. He sends big thanks! He wants me to print out your picture for him and I told him I will----have to get some ink for the printer. Thanks for sending them and the other card you just sent!! He knows he can't do the race  car driving especially now as it would be too dangerous. He says that he wanted a motorcycle and would still love one someday. That's too dangerous too because he can't be TOO careful after having his head/brain injury. It is a great worry, but he can't live in a bubble either. You have a great time down there!!

See you all later! :)

What Daniel can't do these days, may not necessarily mean forever.  I know some of the race tracks offer the opportunity for people to experience the track in a race car with a driver.  Perhaps one day Daniel could do that.  It is probably expensive and I know the one they did at Loudon NH a few weeks ago has quite a waiting list.
I worry about motorcycles.  Even with a helmet, there is a lot of opportunity for serious injury.  You are right though, we can't put Daniel in a bubble.  His aunts will all have to step back and let him live, I guess.

Wow,
Its sounds like Daniel has been a very busy young man. I am very glad that things are going so well for him. He deserves it. It has been a difficult year for him. Just look at how far he has come. Boy will he have lots of stories to tell his grandchildren.

What about Katie? How is she doing?

Please give them both my Love and hugs, and tell them that I think about them both everyday.

I would love for us all to get together at Eldora or Sharon speedway sometime. Funny thing is, we just can't seem to figure out how to get from VA to OH. It's like "you can't get there from here." Maybe one day we will figure it out. ;)

When we talked to Daniel today I found out something. We were talking about his electric scooter and he said to me "Guess what Aunt Carolyn-- It even has a HORN!" I started to laugh and told him wait till I tell everyone about that!!  ;D  ;D  I asked him if he used it yet and he said Oh Yeah! I did not ask the circumstances-----  :)  I know he had it at a yearly festival Greenville has every year, that was
last weekend. He is so funny, wait till you meet him. I found out that his caregiver took him to the festival with her boyfriend last Sat. This was on her own time, just because she wanted to and thinks so much of him. I'm so glad that he has someone taking care of him that truly cares for him.

Daniel told me today that a few years ago he got to ride around the track at Indianapolis, but it wasn't with a race car driver. He would love to do like you mentioned Pam! The therapist at Harborside used to work at Miami Valley Hosp and he told me that after all he's seen, he would never ever get on  motorcycle.

Tami, so good to see you here!! I bet you were amazed at all the news when you caught up. Daniel will have a lot to tell for sure. He's also still talking about becoming a Youth Pastor to start with. He said they usually move on to become the Pastor of the church. Then he smiles at me and says...so I'll look until I find the oldest Pastor I can find and get on there as Youth Pastor! Hope that doesn't sound bad--you have to know how Daniel loves to joke around and be funny. The way I understand it, he can get his college education taken care of when he is ready to go, but for right now, he's having to concentrate on this therapy-- it is at an important point when they have to stay on top of things.

Katie is doing fine. She just got back from New York city. Her Youth Group went there for a week to minister to people there. She came back with some great pictures and great stories. I sure will give them your love and hugs and tell them! Thanks, Tami, so much.

I hope too that we can get together at one of those places sometime. How cool that would be. Daniel would love that! You take care.

We're getting together for a birthday party this weekend, that's for sure, but no details yet. Guess we better work on that pretty quick! :)

Daniel was fine today when we talked to him. No news, except he is working so hard in therapy stretching muscles and walking--repeating what he has been doing to get better.

Carolyn, we are planning a trip to Wyoming next summer.  We usually go through Canada, but have decided this trip to go across - OHIO.  We have checked a map and will be somewhat close to you.  We are hoping that we can connect for lunch, dinner, or something with you as we travel through.  When we get dates and stuff, we will let you know.  Hopefully you will be willing and able to travel to a meeting place.  Maybe Daniel would be able to come too!  It is still a long way off, but our plan is to head west the minute Clyde retires.

Carolyn I love Daniel's sense of humour  :D.  It's so nice to hear how well he's doing & it does sound like he is in great spirits.

Horns or bells on scooters, bikes and roller bladers at least give pedestrians a chance to jump out of the way.  I was shopping in the clothing dept. once & heard someone say excuse me please.  When I looked up there was a woman (salesclerk) coming towards me in a wheelchair.  She had kept moving & I had no where to go but right into the clothes on the rack to get out of the way.  Believe me I was steaming.

Cards arrived today from Lynn and Sarah, wanted you to know they arrived in time for him to get them tomorrow when we see him!! THANKS!!

Gail, Daniel has such a great sense of humor. I was hoping it came across that he was kidding about what he said! :) Don't you hate it when some people think if they say excuse me that they can run you over!? Someone I used to know was like that and it steamed me too, believe me!!

Pam, I sure hope we can get together next summer. Do you know yet at all how you will be crossing Ohio?? Just wondered if it might be on I70? If it was, that would be great. I'll do everything I can to have Daniel with us. This is something to look forward to!! We live not far off of I75 and not too far north of I70. They are the 2 interstates in our part of Ohio.

We'll see Daniel tomorrow and give him his cards and get to visit for a few hours. Can't wait! He told Charlie that therapy has him doing squats so that he's getting practice getting up and down. They seem to be doing just what he needs. I'm so glad that they are doing exactly what he needs and are really working with him.

More later.

Carolyn, I know we are not planning to take any more interstates than we have to.  I have the route numbers plugged into my computer and will get them to you when I can.  I know I looked up your town and saw it was not too far away.   Hope we can work it out.  I expect it to be in late June.  My plan, as I said, was to be outside the high school when Clyde finishes his last day, load him in the car, and we are off!  Pam

Carolyn, I'm glad the card made it in time.  Thanks for letting me know.  Sounds like therapy is right on target.

Give Daniel a birthday hug from "Auntie Lynn".

Pam for sure take the time to visit Carolyn.  My husband & I usually have our holiday schedule so full we often don't have time to visit people and I'm always sorry about that afterwards.

Hi!  I'm so glad the card got there!  About the race car driving, I meant with his scooter!  Can't you just see him moving people out of the way at Wal-Mart or a fair?  So pleased to hjear more and more about Daniel's attitude and progress.  I like that Youth PAstor idea myself.

Weather is  hot here in FL but no more so than up north right now--and I'm getting used to it.

Daniel had a great time today. We had a party for him and his cake was decorated in Jeff Gordon theme. He opened the cards from Lynn and Sarah and wanted me to send big thanks to you! He read them to all of us and had the biggest smile on his face. I delivered all hugs and messages to him. He sends thanks to all of you. I wish you knew how much it means to him to have all of you caring for him and taking time for him. If you could just see his face when he gets the cards and messages you would know how he feels. As always I thank you so much too.

Sarah, I sure hope he doesn't decide to play race car driver with the scooter! I'm sure he will be good, but with that horn, won't put it past him to really use it. :)  Glad you liked his Youth Pastor idea too!

I will be anxious to hear how close you are coming to us next June, Pam. We'll count on getting to meet with you. When I told Daniel about it he got all excited and said "cool"! He really is hoping to see you in person and thank you. He asked me if I had a picture of you, but I told him that I didn't. It's something that you and the other ladies are our good friends and we haven't met you in person yet, but it seems like we've known you for a long time. We are so thankful to have good friends like you!!!

Gail, do you think you guys will ever get down our way? That would be great if we all got to meet someday. I'm hoping to eventually get to meet everyone that has meant so much to us this past year and helped so much.

Lynn, I hope you are feeling better and all works out to be ok. I haven't read the other posts yet, but wanted to be sure and let you know I'm thinking of you and praying.

I better get some sleep or try to at least.

I cannot believe I missed Daniel's birthday.  I missed my niece's too, on Aug. 1.  I do have a card for her, just haven't mailed it yet.

Tell Daniel that not very many people have pictures of me.  Maybe I will get a good one taken with Jimmy on Tues!!!  We will see.  It would be wonderful, but I would not want to impose.

Pam, I guarantee it won't be an imposition.  I think he expects the FTs to have a picture taken.  Some of us have several!  So just ask.  He's very accommodating, and so is Nina.

Pam - Not impose on Jimmy to get a picture with him?  Never.  Just ask and ye shall receive. My husband was in position, camera set waiting till it was my turn to speak to him.  You'll see.
