Thank You!! He will love receiving more cards! Two arrived already! I want to let Lynn and Kim know yours are the ones that got there today. When we went in to see Daniel the nurse had them hung on his wall just as she had promised she would. Lynn you are great at making just the perfect card, thanks a million! The race car is so neat! Kim your card is so nice with such a special message and believe me you both have touched our hearts with your kindness. It makes Charlie and I feel so good and so lucky to see these cards from friends on here that care this much about Daniel. Daniel has seen them and had them read to him and knows you are special, good people and friends of ours and HIS special friends too.
Now I have some good news to add to this. He was up all afternoon in his chair and had therapy. They told us he did great and they even had him STANDING. :) Now this is of course with people right there with him, but, he was on his feet standing. The nurse said he is getting better every day. The assistant told us she spends lots of time with him and last night they were watching cartoons (he was holding her hand) and Daniel not only smiled, but laughed, really laughed out loud. She said when they listened to music and he had her hand, he was moving her hand to the music. She told him when he gets out of there she is going to dance with him before he leaves! Oh how I pray that comes true. She has gotten him to communicate with her. When he came there she told him she needed a way to know what he needed and she taught him to blink his eyes for yes and no. (one blink or 2 blinks) This girl is amazing, just adores him and wants so much to help him. How can you begin to thank someone like this.....   Also they are feeding him ice shavings now to get him used to swallowing again. Every time we go we see more and more changes for the good. Today he was moving in his bed and trying to move himself up in the bed to get more comfortable. This may not seem like such a big deal, but if you had seen him laying for months without moving in bed and suddenly see him trying to scoot up and move around, you'd know how wonderful this was to see. He could move arms and legs before, but nothing like this. It's like each time we go in he has come out of it more and is more alert.
He's had lots of friends visit him since he got there. It's so encouraging to see him better. All the prayers are working and I know with all of us praying there will be many more good things to report.

Dad's dr said he is doing well and his weakness and being so tired is nothing to worry about, that it is normal for the recovery process. We have to take him for blood work in a few days to make sure the kidney is still going and not worsened, but dr thinks it's ok for now. Dr listened to his chest and back and said all sounds clear. Thank God for this too.

How's this all for some good news!?  I try not to get too excited, but we needed some good news, so I'm going to enjoy it and pray it continues.

Thanks you guys,

Carolyn C

Such great news about Daniel.  What a wonderful Thanksgiving you are going to have!  You certainly have a lot to be thankful for.  It looks like your Dad is progressing even if it is slow progress.  I hope you have a lovely day and that you and your family can all celebrate together.  Pam

Thanks! Isn't this great news today! I kept having this hope all along that by the holidays things would be turning for the positive. For some reason I kept feeling like the holidays would mark a good turning point. Thanks to God for the positive turn.

Great news, Carolyn, on both fronts!  I'm glad Daniel liked the card.  I tried to find a way to put something on it that he would recognize and enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your family.

Carolyn C--your wonderful words about Daniel brought me to tears.  And what a privilege to find a young woman to help him and who cares as much as you and your family obviously do!  May so many more little (and big) blessings come each and every day that you are all showered with them.

I have to say again, you guys are the best!!! We wish you a great Thanksgiving and we'll be thinking of you all and saying thanks for the friends, support, and prayers. You've made such a difference, helped every day these past four months. I believe in the power of prayer and feel sure all the prayers from so many in so many places have brought miracles from God. I can't put into words how much you are appreciated.

It's wonderful and exciting to hear about the progress Daniel is making.

As we get older it takes us longer to get back on our feet.  It sounds like your father is well on the way.

This will be a special Thanksgiving to you and your family.

The card has been mailed.  I made sure I identified my husband and myself in the card so that you will know who sent it.  Look for a bright green frog!  Pam

Thanks for letting me know about the cards. I will keep my eye out for them and Matt and Lora will let me know if they show up when they are there. I'll watch for the green frog too! :)  I guarantee you that Daniel knows he is receiving them. He's still coming around even more.

Here's the latest! Today he tried to get out of bed! Now the one part is bad, because he could so easily fall and it could be a tragedy. But, the good part is that he is moving like that and wanting to move and get up. Charlie just said last night that they better watch him because he's going to be trying to get up out of the bed one of these days. Wow, was he ever right! So it is exciting to know he actually tried to get out of bed today.

We'll be meeting family down at the care center tomorrow and visit with Daniel. We sure do have a lot to be thankful for.

I think trying to get out of bed is certainly a very good sign.  It shows some physical abilities are returning and also some of the thought processes are really working.  It gives you a better idea of what he is thinking about.  I am sure he will be eating and talking soon, too.  I bet that letting him stand briefly the other day has really encouraged him.

I hope you all have a wonderful day today and that this snowy weather we have been hearing about isn't going to affect your travels.
