I was away at my daughter's for two days and was amazed at how much had happened in that short time.  I am very encouraged by the news if Daniel smiling and laughing.  This place is just so good for him.  Thank you for trusting us with his name and address.   He should be very surprised with all the mail he will be getting.  I want to go out and get him a special card.

Carolyn, how is your dad doing today?  Tell him we all are thinking about him and praying for his rapid recovery.

We went to visit with Daniel and stayed for a long time until he went to sleep. As soon as we went in to his room he knew it. We did one thing right when we bought him that tv because he loves to watch it and loves cartoons. It is truly amazing how much better he is doing up here. I found out he's had friends come to see him already just as soon as they found out he was  here. I asked him a question and told him to blink if the answer was yes and he did blink. Lora said the nurses told her he was doing that the other night for one of them.  They seem to all want to be a part of his getting better. Now I know he is getting good care and it's such a good feeling. Yes, he's going to be really surprised when he gets your cards. I told him again tonight about all the friends he has in so many places and named off the states to him that you guys are from.
He really listens when we talk to him.

Dad is doing ok, but certainly not back to being well yet. I have finally gotten him to eat more so he can gain some strength back. He's still staying downstairs on a roll away bed because his stairs are steep. So things are better but  as far as his kidneys are doing I won't know until he gets with the kidney dr and I'm assuming will do more tests. Thanks for asking and I will relay your message to him.

I know I have read too that Jeff Gordon has done a lot of good for kids. It would mean so much if he did acknowledge Daniel in some way with a card, pic, or anything. Let's hope!

Till later,

I put a card I made in the mail to Daniel today.

Hi all!

There is no real news today and I guess that is not a bad thing after all the times I had to come on and tell you unpleasant things. I imagine the cards you guys said you sent should start arriving any time and I will let you know!! Thanks!!

We spent 2 hours with Daniel today. We can see things looking better all the time. He was asleep when we first got there, but woke up and wanted to hold our hands. He reaches right out to our hand and takes hold. The nurse was talking to us and told us she is sure they will have him eating and drinking again. You can see him swallowing when we give him water with one of those sponge swabs that looks like a candy sucker. I kept dipping it in water for him and he'd suck the water out of it and swallow perfectly. He was sitting up in bed watching the Nascar race and holding Charlie's hand while I gave him his water. He was so content, just wish you could have seen. I told him again about the cards coming from friends in other states and I also told the nurse. She said when they get there she will make sure they get hung up on his wall right by him after he sees them. The girl from across the hall came over to visit and said she prays for him and the kitty cat was out visiting too. :) The nurses and all the workers we have met have been fantastic. They seem to really care about Daniel and are so nice to us. The one lady today even gave me a big hug. The nurse said they want to do everything for him and she said they know it could be their own child there and want him to be taken care of like their own. The therapists were in and were going to put him in his chair for awhile this afternoon. We weren't able to stay for that and I just wonder how he liked being moved while he was watching his race on tv! It's good to visit and spend time with him and when we leave, feel he is in fine hands instead of crying and being so scared of the people in charge of him. I think this place was the answer to the prayers.

After we left there we had to go to Walmart and pick up some things for my Dad and take to him. He looked a lot better today I'm happy to say. That's about it for now.

Very good news, Carolyn.   Our prayers will continue.  I have got to get the card for Daniel.  Hope to get to a store today or tomorrow.  I need to do some more Thanksgiving food shopping.

Thanks so much! I'll let you know as soon as any cards arrive. I was told nothing arrived today. We'll be going tomorrow to see Daniel and I'll check to see if any have gotten there. These cards will be appreciated more than you know!

Dad goes to the Kidney specialist Tuesday afternoon. Right now he is doing ok, but hasn't regained strength yet and still isn't able to go upstairs or get out and drive. I'm hoping he does ok when he has to go out to the dr tomorrow.

Nothing new on Daniel. I hope to have good news soon as they say he is close to being able to eat and drink again. It would be great to get rid of the feeding tube.

Carolyn,

It sounds like Daniel is making some wonderful progress now.  That is really encouraging news and we are grateful to be kept so well informed.

Will get a card and send it to Daniel as soon as I can.  This young man deserves a show of love and support after all he has been through, as does your whole family.

Take care.  Hope all goes well with your Dad.

With prayers,
Carolyn  S.
