Terrific news!  Daniel must be very happy with this move.  Hope they do keep your father in a few more days to give him more time to heal and get stronger.

Carolyn, your latest news brought tears to my eyes.  This is such wonderful news.  What a happy Thanksgiving it looks like your family will have this year.  So much to be thankful for and you should be able to be together - perhaps not at home where you would prefer, but at least not traveling hours and possibly being separated.  I think the news about Daniel will go a long way toward helping your dad to get better.  I am just so pleased for all of you.   :)

OK, my keyboard quit in the middle of my last post.  I had to shut the whole computer down to get it to work again.

Anyway, Carolyn, I am glad that you will be able to visit your nephew every day now if you want.  I'm with you about your dad staying a few more days in the hospital.  Perhaps if he knew how much peace of mind it would give you, he might agree to stay if they let him.  I am sure it isn't much fun for him to be there though.

Hope today is a good one for you and that you get some rest.  God bless.

Ok, I'm back with an update.  Daniel is still doing well and seems to be adjusting to this new move. We've been there several times. The people at the care center just love him and feel so bad about what has happened to him. This evening when my brother went in to see Daniel there was this little elderly lady in a wheel chair in his room up by his bed. She said she felt so bad for him and just wanted him to know people were near him. There are others that go in to see him too. So this is really cool that it is so much more like a home than what he's been in the past months. There's a kitty that lives there too and roams around. :) Yes  we are so happy about this move up here! The girls that work there saw the tv we bought him and that it has the built in VCR and they're going to get him cartoons and tapes and bring in for him to see. They all have been great so far.

As for Dad, Sat. the news was very bad. When we got back to the hospital Sat night we found out his kidneys are failing. They put him on a strict diet and medicine. Then Sunday morning he called me and said he was getting out. The tests came back better and they're hoping the meds and diet will keep him going. I have lots of unanswered questions and will have to find out some things Monday. The nurse told me there was a turnaround overnight Sat. but he still is on a very restricted diet and I have to learn a lot yet about that. I'll spare you all the details but suffice to say it was one long day and night till Charlie and I got to come home.
Tomorrow probably will be another one.

See you all later,

Carolyn C.

That is wonderful news about Daniel.  I have no doubt he will respond  positively to more action in his room.  What are any one's thoughts on young people, his friends, coming to see him?  Or are there even any other young people in there?

I am sorry to hear about the difficulties your father is facing.  As we get older, healing takes longer.  I can imagine when he goes home his diet will be a huge obstacle to overcome - it is so hard to change our eating patterns and harder still when it's a senior intent on hanging on to his independence.  My prayers go out to all.

Carolyn,   the news about Daniel is wonderful.  I was praying for him at church this morning.  I am glad that he is in such a nice place and that he is getting more attention.  This has to be good thing.

It seems to me that you keep getting mixed messages about your father.  I don't know what to tell you except to try to pin the doctor down.  You particularly need to be aware of what to be watching for when he does come home.  Good thing he didn't come home Saturday like he thought!

Know that the prayers continue.  Pam

I'm not sure if there are any really young people in there. I've seen one girl that lives across the hall that must be in her 30's. Her boyfriend has gone over to see Daniel and talked and prayed. Lora said when she went in tonight that the little lady in the wheel chair was sitting by him holding his hand. That is just so sweet and what he needs so much. His room is coming along. Many of his personal things have been put in there and they hooked up the tv to the cable today. We noticed there is a sign on the wall above his bed that states that only the licensed therapists are to give him therapy. I'm not sure if any of Daniel's friends made it over yet to see him, but I know they will come to see him since it's only 20 some miles from Greenville. They drove to Cincinnati as often as they could. This just feels so much better now.

Dad is hanging in there. Thursday I take him to the dr for a follow up.

As always, thanks for the prayers and help!

- made me wonder who's trying to give him therapy & what kind  :).  Love to hear this kind of news.

Has your father been released from Hospital (you had mentioned taking him to the dr. for a followup)?  Keep us posted.

Carolyn,
I talked to Beth last night, and told her about Daniel's progress, and your fathers problems. She wanted me to let you know that you and your family are still in her prayers. (mine too).

We are both really excited about the progress with Daniel. I hope much more good news will be coming in the next weeks. I feel like you will be seeing a lot of improvement now that he is in a more relaxing environment.

Do you have an address that we could send cards or flowers to Daniel?

Give Katie a hug for me please, and tell her that I am thinking of her. AND BE CAREFUL DRIVING!!! ;)

Tami

I am so touched by the older lady who keeps coming in to visit Daniel and to hold his hand, also by the man who came in and prayed.  I truly believe God is present in the place where Daniel is now living.  You can see Him in the face of all these people.  What a blessing.  He can't help but do well there, where God's healing presence is everywhere.

Carolyn:
We're so happy to hear Daniel is improving!  :)
I think Tami had a great idea if we FT's could possibly send him some get well wishes!
It might help him towards his recovery efforts to know we have all been right there for him.
I too thought it was so sweet of the elderly lady to stop by and say hi to him.
God sends us "angels" unawares and we should remember to thank him for such kind folk!  :)
