Jan, please give us whatever details you can.  Were you able to see Jimmy and speak with him afterwards?

I know it has been a long time since you were able to see him.  I'm sure you enjoyed it immensely!

Eddie, I watched  a large portion of it as well, and I was crying right along with Vince Gill.  That song always brings tears to my eyes anyway, and to see such a seasoned performer whom I admire have trouble controlling his emotions made it even more poignant.  I have always marveled at how singers, speakers, etc. can keep their control at such times. The answer is that they cannot always, and I admire them all the more for being real.

I also appreciated Governor Huckabee's remarks.  The ending was so reassuring; it's easy to forget that he is also a  minister and think about him only as a politician and radio and TV personality.   His comments on Lester Moran and the Cadillac Cowboys did not go amiss either.  His comparison of them to bands he was in as he grew up surely brought a smile.  I have heard but not found a source for it that some other time that day he said that if he had selected the Statlers as his vice-presidential candidate he surely would have won.

Wow!  What a thought, Eddie! Can you just imagine the quality of that sound?

Thanks. Greg!  I shared this on Facebook and forgot to post it here.

Don is  such a special man.  He speaks what the rest of us have trouble articulating.  He also recently posted about the Boston Marathon bombing in a most personal and moving way:

Yes, this is a true loss to country music, and I pray for his family and friends. I imagine most of you knew that Wilson Fairchild was opening for him on about half of the shows on his farewell tour, including the two concerts that were recently postponed. Langdon and Wil also need our support.

THE FINAL EPISODE!  just received the following from Dania:

Just got home. It's fine. I got it all worked out and Jimmy has his gift card to Vito's in Lovingston.  :)  The owner was very nice. And Jimbo is excited about getting to order from there. He loves that place! Thank you all so much for thinking of him. You guys are The Best!!!

Turns out the other gift card went to a place in New Hampshire that is owned by Lovingston Vito's brother!! Lol. He called his brother and neither one of them could figure out how this mix up occurred. Haha! Crazy!

And so Dear Readers and FT Family, we have finally triumphed once again. The gremlins of the electronic world have lost this round.  Please, if you are a friend of Dania's, let her know how much you appreciate her help with this  We could not have done it without her or our dear Jimmy who knows his eldest son so well!

The ALMOST FINAL CHAPTER in the gift certificate saga for Jimmy Jr., mostly in Dania's words

To begin, I came home from Bible Study tonight to find this message from Dania:

So Jimmy has his gift card but it goes to a place in New Hampshire. Lol. I'm trying to get it straightened out now.

Curses, foiled again!  So, of course I responded to Dania with info about the restaurant and the day I ordered the card, the confirmation e-mail I received, and such....

Yes, Heather, I believe we all are in prayer over this sad event. I was hoping you and Mom were not at Brigham and Womens today.

Continuing...

Here's the next I heard from Dania who couldn't fit in a visit right then:

"I gave it to Chris to take to LJ on Easter but Chris forgot and left it in his truck.  So I got it back from Chris now and will take it when I visit this weekend. I did tell him about it...so he knows it's coming. I thought Chris had already given it to him when I brought it up."

So, after a series of challenges, JJ knows we have gotten him a gift but he doesn't have it yet. I'll let you know the rest as soon as I hear anything!

Paula, I know you shared a video on FB.  Did you take any other photos we might be able to see?  Is the video available to anyone or just FB friends?  If it is open, could you post a link here for the FTs who are not on FB?

The saga of the certificate continues...

After hearing the caller from Vito's say they might have sent it to the wrong place, I immediately got in touch with Dania and she told me she had it in hand.  I also sent her an envelope with a card that she could put the certificate in and signed it from all of us.  (Also sent her a thank you card for her gracious agreement to help the FTs with this.  She is one special lady!)

Then the weather intervened.  Remember those snowstorms that blanketed Staunton not only with snow but also some sleet and ice--several of them, one after another?  Yes, dear FT readers, every time Dania was just ready to go to see Jimmy Jr., there came another storm--and another, and....  Dania also had a personal repair issue develop when the snow starting melting and dripping into a part of the wall around a bay window.  More to take care of for her.  I so admire her courage.

So there we were approaching Easter....

Continued again soon!

So where do I start?  Several FTs told me they thought we should send a token of our love to Jimmy Jr. after his surgeries and i heartily agreed.  When I asked Nina what we could send after he got better, she had no ideas after thinking about it for a while as she felt all of his needs were met.  I thought about it for a while as well, and then I decided to ask Dania Balsley because she visits him quite often and she might pick up on something.  She didn't have any ideas either, so she asked our dear Jimmy!

JJ had just been moved to a new rehab, and Jimmy felt that he might like to have some non-institutional food when he wished.  Jimmy suggested a gift certificate from an Italian place that JJ likes fairly close to the rehab.

Okay! (TY Papa Jimmy! We love you and your family.)  Now this is where the fun starts. I called Vito's and ordered a certificate to be sent to Dania so she could deliver it the next time she visited.  Even received a confirmation e-mail. Two days later I received a call from the restaurant wanting to know why a person living in NC would order a certificate and why it would be sent to a place in VA to someone with a different name than the recipient and was I sure that was what I wanted to do.... Yes, I told the caller and he promptly told me they might have sent it to the wrong zip code.

To be continued when I have the strength...
