Hey Gladys,

I too have sirius.  I will have to check out that channel.  Now that Nascar is done until Feb. I can listen to other stations.  Otherwise, my radio stays on channel 128.

By the way, what channel is that Roadhouse channel???

Take care and talk to you soon.

I understand that that the Statlers will probably mention Lew in their speech, but I still think they should not have overlooked Lew in the articles.  Even is the article that Steve posted it said "The Statler Brothers - Harold Reid, Phil Balsley, Jimmy Fortune and Don Reid - began as back up for Johnny Cash".

In my opinion, the article should have mentioned Lew's name in this sentence instead of Jimmy's.  They could have put another sentence in there about Jimmy taking over for Lew.

I guess I was just shocked that they didn't mention Lew's name.

I wanted to add my congratulations.  However, I am sadden that they didn't mention Lew in any of the articles.

I went camping last week in Lower Michigan.  We were extremely dry here.  The Governor put a band on fires but we were at a state park and they allowed us to have campfires.  We just tried to keep them small.  We had a lot of rain on Monday and Tuesday.  I don't know if the ban has been lifted.

General Fan Discussion Forum / Re: 2007 CMA Hall of Fame Announcement?

I would rather see Vince Gill or Alan Jackson get this honor than Garth Brooks or Brooks and Dunn.  Both Vince and Alan are traditional country artist that take a stand for the older artist.  I remember Alan was performing at the CMA Awards(I believe) and instead of singing all of his song, he sang a verse and then when into George Jones' song.  Why??  Because the awards show refused to allow George to sing his whole song.  They told him he could only sing a couple of lines before the show when to commercial.  What Alan did was a class act.  And Vince??  I believe he was accepting an award and he pretty much blasted the music execs for not remembering the older artist.  Ones that made Country music.  It was great.

« on: May 29, 2007, 04:24:40 PM »
I know these crashes look really scary, but the cars (both indy cars and nascar stock cars) are designed with safety in mind.  Last month at Talladega Kyle Busch had his Busch series car flip (actually roll) at least 5 times.   After the car stopped, he put down his window net and crawled out.   He was sore the next couple of days, but he didn't even have the wind knocked out of him.

Not only are the cars extremely safe, the tracks have also taken safety measures.  Most of the barriers around the track are what they call "safer barriers" which mean they are designed to absorb the impact of the crash.
So there is less injury to the driver.

Also, the drivers know risks involved in running any type of racing vehicle.  They feel they are safer on the race track compared to rush hour traffic on any interstate in any big city.

Joe Diffie, Michael Peterson, Tammy Cochran, Chris Young, Highway 101, David Frizzell, Ricky Lynn Gregg, Jimmy Fortune, Billy Ryan and David Kroll are among the artists slated to appear on Billy Yates' COUNTRIEST of the COUNTRY show scheduled for Wednesday, June 6th at the Ernest Tubb Texas Troubadour Theater in Nashville.

Nina,

Is this Chris Young the same Chris Young that won Nashville Star in 2006???

Thanks,

I agree with Ann B.  I am also having cruise withdrawals.  I would love to see more of the caribbean.  So, I would have to vote for the southern caribbean.   Or how about the Mexican Riveria???  I would make 2008 or 2009 work for me.    Time to start a cruise savings account again.   :)  :)  :)

Can anybody tell me what part of the state the Va. concerts are in?

Eddie

Eddie,

Abingdon, VA is close to the Virginia/Tennessee boarder.  I think it is about 15 miles from Bristol, VA.
